Gods And Monsters

Despite what civilized man shall claim and say, the visions of things that can shape, make, and destroy our lives is always a part of us all. From lighting striking in the darkness for primitive man to the recent Y2K fears-man has always had a feeling there were things, real, imagined, living or made, beyond his control and could end his existance in a heartbeat.

These are a few of the gods and monsters-past, present, and perhaps future, that have followed humanity (and will continue to do so) to the very edge of the Apocalypse....and beyond.

baby drac

If all the tales and fables are true about these beasts of legend, then the dragons were indeed the first to suffer from man's predjudice and hatred for anything different than itself. Superior in size, longer life, and knowlege of things men could not even imagine. I imagine the dragons were indeed just like us (if they were here). They weren't born violent. They learned it, just like we did/do/will.....from us.

fallen angel

Posing as the gods and goddesses from every legend know, the fallen angels continue (some say) to plague mankind today. Some call them benevolent, while others call them demonic. It is belived by some it is their voice some hear under the guise of 'spirit wisdom' and 'spiritual advisors'. The image presented here shows one as I see them according to the Bible. "There was war in Heaven.." Revelation 12:7. Outside the healing powers of God, these creatures (the fallen ones) healed from their wounds in a manner not normal to them. Thus perhaps explaing some of the other creatures seen in the annals of mythology.

griffin

Another example of bestial nobility. The Griffin was rumored to stand side-by-side with the Unicorn and others watching Noah's Ark sail off into destiny. They had either arrived late or was sure of their apparent invincibility or imortality. Part lion, part eagle. A confusion and harmony of nature's best, the Griffin rests in the place along with Unicorns, Dragons, and other intelegent beast legends-fanciful myth or lost miracle.

Cthulhu

". . .Ph-nglui mglw'naft Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. . . roughly translated"In his house at R'lyeh dead Cthulhu waits dreaming." HP Lovecraft. "The Call Of Cthulhu"
"When the stars are right, Great Cthulhu will rise again from his sunken city and reclaim the Earth." Written in the early 1920's by pioneer horror author HP Lovecraft, the now-called 'Cthulhu Mythos' has grown to a point of an almost 'quazi-religion'. Lovecraft was known to mix fact into his fiction to add a chilling undertone that perhaps his subjects were based on real 'myths' rather than 'created' ones (The Voynich Manuscripts at Yale University for example). Many occultist have spent years trying to track down The Necronomicon that was written by Abdul Alhazred in Lovecraft's stories. In this book laid passages to help or hinder the Great Old Ones to rise up and return at the proper time in history. But, perhaps Lovecraft had actual reference to such a work (his grandfather supposedly owned a fragment of such a real book.) Lovecraft's creation (or inspiration?) holds a resembalance to "The Beast" foretold in Revalation.(Out of the sea, take over the world, kill any who will not worship it, etc) Whether this is intentional or cosmically signifigant will soon be seen.
